According to a yearlong study by researchers from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), out of the 900-kilo tonnes of PET produced in India annually, 65% is recycled at authorised facilities, 15% in the unorganised sector, and 10% is reused at homes.

rPET utilises 90% less water than virgin plastic. In fact, rPET yarns utilise 94% less water than oil-based PET fibres. Go Rewise is recycling 90% of the utilised water. We have also developed our own ETP plant to maximise utilisation. In the recycling realm, our procedures are engineered to consume 75% less water than other PET recycling companies. Furthermore, we have a zero-liquid discharge facility at Warangal. PET recycling can substantially reduce ocean-bound PET waste, which is particularly detrimental to the ecosystem as both macro and microplastic waste.
rPET uses 79 to 85% less energy than virgin products in manufacturing, making it the ultimate sustainable choice. In the next five years, we aim to get the renewable energy mix to 60%. We are focused on enhancing our reliance on renewable energy resources and we have taken numerous steps to ensure the same. At an organisation level, we have deployed renewable energy sources across facilities, meeting around 17% of the plant’s annual requirement from the solar resource.
The higher the proportion of rPET, the better it is for the environment. Manufacturing bottles or other products from rPET flakes/chips consumes half the energy involved in new PET production and reduces CO2 emissions by five times. rPET is 75 % more environmentally safe than PET, according to Swiss Climate, and has a significantly better natural balance than glass. In fact, rPET can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by more than 79 % when compared to virgin PET, according to research.
